Founder & Executive Director, Let God Be You Ministry

David Mwendele (Mwalimu David) is the Founder and Executive Director of Let God Be You Ministry, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through faith, education, leadership, and practical action.

David was raised in rural Tanzania, where he experienced poverty, family separation, and limited access to opportunity. After losing the care of his parents at a young age, he was raised and educated in an orphanage. It was there that he witnessed both the hardships faced by vulnerable children and the life-changing impact that education, compassion, and community support can have on a person’s future. Those experiences shaped his lifelong commitment to serving others with dignity and hope.

At the age of 19, David founded Let God Be You with a vision of helping people discover their God-given potential and become active participants in transforming their own lives and communities. The ministry’s first initiative was the Community Educational and Training Center (CETC), created to provide underserved children and young people with access to education, life skills, leadership development, and opportunities for a better future.

Over the past fourteen years, David has worked alongside educators, volunteers, churches, community leaders, and nonprofit partners to expand educational opportunities and strengthen communities. Through these efforts, more than 1,000 children, youth, women, and families have been positively impacted.

David’s faith has always been central to his life. From an early age, he developed a deep love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and actively served in churches and community ministries. While serving, he became increasingly aware that many sincere believers possessed strong faith but often lacked the encouragement and practical guidance needed to transform that faith into action. He observed that religious teachings sometimes unintentionally left people waiting for change instead of inspiring them to become agents of change within their families and communities.

This conviction became the foundation of Let God Be You Ministry.

The ministry exists to help people—especially children and young people from every background and every faith tradition—recognize their God-given dignity, abilities, and responsibility to contribute positively to the world around them. Rather than creating division between religions, Let God Be You seeks to build common ground by encouraging values such as compassion, service, responsibility, leadership, and human dignity that unite people in the pursuit of stronger communities.

At the same time, the ministry hopes to encourage faith communities to complement spiritual teaching with practical action—equipping people not only to believe, but also to serve, create opportunities, solve problems, and become faithful stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to them.

Today, David continues to lead Let God Be You Ministry through community development initiatives, leadership training, education, public speaking, writing, and partnerships with organizations and individuals who share a vision of lasting social transformation.
